NYC Artist Turns to eBay for Art Sales June 1, 2004--New York City artist Lemya creates richly colored abstract works that describe what can only be known as abstract thoughts and sentiments. Inspired by her interests in the arts, ancient civilizations, philosophy, and poetry, Lemya's paintings suggest realms of the subconscious and visions of the inward-looking mind. Emotional energy and spontaneous expressiveness are felt throughout the artwork. Subtle gradations of color on a highly textured surface quality contribute to the intrigue of these compositions, constructed of light, shadow and color rather than of concrete forms or figures. The thick layers of paint and atmospheric color fields in Lemya's works recall the elemental materials-fire, water, the essence of self. Trained at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City, she is a professional artist selling through galleries, art exhibitions, and commercial & private commissions. |
