Top Ranked Website Up For Grabs On Ebay!

September 14, 2004 -- One of the world's top-ranked web sites for second user computer equipment is to be listed for sale by auction on Ebay. On 23rd September the domain name, www.a1-cheap-laptops.com, together with related domain names and customer & supplier data, will be entered on the Ebay site in a ten day auction.

The web site, owned by Focus Computers Ltd (Focus Computers) currently receives an average of more than 400 unique visitors every day searching for second-user laptop computers and is top-ranked on the Google and Yahoo search engines. In a Google.com search, by far the most popular search engine worldwide, the domain name is ranked number two when using the search phrases "cheap laptop" or "cheap laptops". A Yahoo.com based search produces similarly impressive results with the domain name achieving a first page ranking using the same search phrases.

Focus Computers estimate that achieving this level of targeted traffic using paid for advertising via "Google Adwords" or "Overture" would require an investment in the region of USD$200,000 per annum based on an average cost per click of USD$1.40.

Focus Computers was established by the managing director, Steve Kirkby, in 1994 and specialises in providing affordable computing to the student and education market. The company purchases premium brand name, second user and factory refurbished laptop computers and sells direct to the end user. Standard and extended warranties are offered on all sales. The successful Ebay bidder will be offered an option to purchase the business by separate negotiation.

Commenting on the proposed sale Steve Kirkby said, "We've been very successful in achieving high rankings for a1-cheap-laptops.com in the key search engines – a prerequisite for any web based business. From that position we've built a company with significant and reliable turnover and one that could be easily taken over or incorporated into an existing business. Due to a recently diagnosed chronic health condition I'm unable to continue building the business but will be on hand to provide consultancy to the new owner for a pre-determined period."
